About time: GPS module for iPhone
Posted by kristian on December 17th, 2007

Finally, iPhone gets an external GPS module to complement its Maps application. Unfortunately, the module is not “very official” since it can only be used in jailbroken iPhones. According to PartFoundry, the software is open source and more apps are being written as we speak.
The module itself is pretty small to be carried around and is based on SiRFStarIII. The expected retail price is USD 89 and it will be out somewhere in February 2008. One thing to consider before rushing to buy it; please check whether the applications support your hometown or any place you want.
