Apple to unveil 3G iPhone next year

Posted by Budi Putra on November 29th, 2007 No Comments »

Apple will launch a 3G version of the iPhone next year that can download from the Internet at a faster rate, AT&T Inc. Chief Executive Officer Randall Stephenson said. I think it's a kind of obligation for Apple to launch 3G iPhone, since the W-CDMA has widely spread across the world. via Textually

Will iPhone get popular in Indonesia?

Posted by Budi Putra on November 28th, 2007 No Comments »

Last week, two collegues of mine asked me whether I knew who could help them unlock their iPhone. They owned the Apple's cool gadget by purchasing them either by themselves or asking their colleagues who went to the US or Europe recently. I even also saw a number of people using iPhone in Jakarta or any other big cities in the country. The question is, if it comes out here next year as well as to other Asian countries as Apple promised, will it get popular? Or, more specifically, will it get sold out here? Sorry, no iPhone in the Christmas lists!

Posted by Budi Putra on November 24th, 2007 No Comments »

Sorry, Apple's iPhone would not be added to their Christmas lists. Why? The price is too high! The iPhone went on sale in the UK earlier this month, and costs £269. Users also have to sign up to an 18 month contract with O2, with tariffs starting from £35 per month. In a survey conducted by GfK NOP, almost three-quarters of those people questioned said that they would not buy an iPhone because of its high price. Just two per cent of those surveyed said they would be adding the iPhone to their Christmas lists. Source: Telegraph

Rumor sparks that iPhone that will be launched in Europe is going to be equipped with 3G. Off-course, if it is true, it would be more advance than a U.S.-launched iPhone, which was only equipped with EDGE. Source: 3Gweek

Apart from purchasing the unlocked iPhone from eBay Australia, you also can buy the unlocked-iPhone in Germany. Thanks to those European courts, you can freely buy the unlocked-iPhone without a contract Ya gotta love those European courts. T-Mobile said today it will sell the iPhone in Germany without a contract in order to comply with an injunction issued by a court hearing a lawsuit brought by rival Vodaphone. If you want it without a contract, you can have it for 999 Euros, or more about $1,477 given today's exchange rate. With a contract it will go for 399 Euro, or about $590. Source

iPhone could be a spy tool?

Posted by Budi Putra on November 22nd, 2007 No Comments »

Oops, the cracked-iPhone could be a spy tool: an exploit application can record conversations on and near the iPhone. How could? A US security consultant has used a security-testing tool to crack the iPhone. The exploit allows a hacker to control an iPhone remotely. Farrow demonstrated how he used HD Moore's Metasploit tool to gain root access to the iPhone and install an application that can record conversations on and near the iPhone, transforming the device into a spy tool. It also allowed him to remotely access recently modified files, locally stored emails and view the iPhone's web-browsing history. Source: ZDnet
